HypnoBirthing Childbirth Preparation Classes

HypnoBirthing is a method of natural childbirth preparation that views birth as a normal, healthy process in a woman’s body. This class emphasizes ways to celebrate birth and to make it a rewarding and joyful experience for all those involved. The class properly prepares mothers for labor and birth – physically, mentally and emotionally. Mothers feel more connected to her birthing instincts and her body by learning to focus the mind. Partners/Birth Companions will learn specific techniques to support mothers during the birth and become more informed about birthing options.
In this class you will learn:
* Self-hypnosis, relaxation, breathing, massage, positions, and visualization techniques to prepare for labor and birth
* What is needed to create a more joyful, conscious and calm birth experience
* Techniques to reach deep relaxation to reduce pain and
fear
* What is happening in your body during labor & birth, so you
can work with your birthing body.
* How fear affects labor and birth
* The physiology of birth and the many ways your body is working with you to birth your
baby
* Preparing your body and mind for a healthy birth experience
* The importance of bonding and connecting to your baby
* The birthing companion’s role and specific techniques to support mothers
* Birthing preferences & options

Mindfulness-Based New Moms Groups/ Second Time Moms’ Groups / and Mindful Mothering Groups and Moms Retreats
Bringing Mindfulness to infant-parent attachment and the transition to motherhood.
Psychotherapist led discussion/support/meditation groups, (no prior experienced necessary) for new and experienced moms. Most of the groups are for moms with babies/toddlers and groups are divided by age: new moms, moms of toddlers, 2nd time moms. Groups meet in Berkeley and provide a supportive environment within which to explore the landscape of mothering and how to best stay present with ourselves, our little ones and our partners during this joyous and challenging time. Most groups run for 8 weeks, but some are ongoing.
